Silver Cloud's Imitation Maple Extract tastes like real maple syrup. Our flavor is twice as strong as your typical maple extract and is bake and freeze-proof. This flavor will not bake off in a high heat applications such as cakes and cookies.

Silver Cloud's Imitation Maple Extract contains propylene glycol, corn syrup, natural & artificial flavor, caramel color and water. Try adding this extract to cookies, cakes, frosting, sauces, bulk sausage, meat glazes and marinades. Use it anywhere the delicious flavor of maple is desired. This extract is sugar and gluten-free. For those cooks who prefer to use only natural ingredients, we also offer a wonderful natural maple flavor too (see Pure Extracts & Flavors).

Vanilla Chip Maple Cookies

Ingredients:

Directions:

In a mixing bowl, cream shortening, butter and brown sugar. Add egss, one at a time, beating well after each. Beat in vanilla and maple flavoring. Combine the flour and baking soda; gradually add to creamed mixture. Stir in vanilla chips and pecans. Drop by round tablespoons 2 inches apart onto greased baking sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 - 10 minutes or until golden brown. Cool for 2 minutes before removing to wire racks. For Frosting - in a mixing bowl, cream butter and confectioners sugar. Beat in maple flavoring and enough milk to achieve spreading consistency. Frost cooled cookies. Top each with a pecan half.

Serves: About 7 dozen

Ingredients:

1 cup shortening
½ cup butter or margarine, softened
2 cups packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon Silver Cloud Pure Vanilla Extract
1 teaspoon Silver Cloud Imitation Maple Extract or Maple, Natural Flavor Blend
3 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 cups vanilla or white chips
½ cup chopped pecans

Frosting:

¼ cup butter or margarine, softened
4 cups confectioners’ sugar
1 teaspoon Silver Cloud Imitation Maple Extract or Maple, Natural Flavor Blend.
4 to 6 tablespoons milk
3-1/2 cups pecan halves

In a mixing bowl, cream shortening, butter and brown sugar.  Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each.  Beat in vanilla and maple flavoring.  Combine the flour and baking soda; gradually add to creamed mixture.  Stir in vanilla chips and pecans. Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls 2 in. apart onto greased baking sheets.  Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.  Cool for 2 minutes before removing to wire racks.  In a mixing bowl, cream butter and confectioners’ sugar.  Beat in maple flavoring and enough milk to achieve spreading consistency.  Frost cooled cookies.  Top each with a pecan half. Yield: about 7 dozen.

News

Vanilla bean and extract prices have increased significantly this year. This is due to a smaller than expected crop in Madagascar last year. This was aggravated by early picking and the vacuum packing of uncured beans. While short term the news is not good, the 2016 flowering was excellent and we anticipate a good harvest. This may lead to some price softening, but with the strong demand for vanilla we have seen it is hard to say how much relief we will see. We will know more later this year as new crop, cured beans become available. Best case we do not anticipate any significant reduction in price before the end of the 1st quarter of 2017.
